How will Greenwich be affected by the 30-40% rail price hike?

As if South Eastern rail wasn't flaky enough, apparently season ticket holders and commuters are due to be hit with a 30-40% price increase over the next four years. I can't even begin to comprehend why something thinks that this was an acceptable decision. As one Greenwich commuter said "I'll just catch the tube and stop using South Eastern."

Rail price hikes of 40%? At least you'll always be able to get a seat.
This will affect those in Greenwich massively. Currently we've actually
got a convenient (if already pricey) line into London. There's obviously
the argument that commuters could move closer to work, but that's not
going to help those in Greenwich. We're already close. And that's really
not that the issue. The issue is that we're going to be paying more,
for a service that doesn't warrant it.
I don't think that's on. But what do you reckon? Would love to hear your thoughts on how you think you'll be affected by this.
