  • Could off peak Thames Clipper services be reinstated?

By MissSiany at 16:56 on 09/02/11
    Ay ay captain!
Apparently there are plans to reinstate the off peak services at Bankside Pier in the spring. Currently there are so sailings to the pier by Shakespeare Globe before 10am and after 5pm, and there hasn't been since 2007. There's also been talk of a limited service in the evenigs after late-night services were cut back in November last year. Something that will be welcomed by many of you if it happens. Personally, it's rare I use the...
  • Will you be affected by the Thames Clipper evening cut?

By MissSiany at 15:17 on 28/10/10
It always feels a little bit James Bond, doesn't it?
I've just read that the Thames Clipper service is going to be cut in the evening. According to the News Shopper, from November 1st: "The last service from Royal Arsenal Woolwich is currently 11pm but will now leave at 8.15pm. From the O2 people will have to leave almost three hours early to catch the 8.25pm boat, which currently leaves at 11.10pm. Later boats will be provided from the O2 when events are taking place"...
  • How will Greenwich be affected by the 30-40% rail price hike?

By MissSiany at 20:09 on 16/10/10
Rail price hikes of 40%? At least you'll always be able to get a seat.
As if South Eastern rail wasn't flaky enough, apparently season ticket holders and commuters are due to be hit with a 30-40% price increase over the next four years. I can't even begin to comprehend why something thinks that this was an acceptable decision. As one Greenwich commuter said "I'll just catch the tube and stop using South Eastern." This will affect those in Greenwich massively. Currently we've actually got a...
  • Do you think the London cycle scheme should have been rolled out to Greenwich?

By MissSiany at 18:18 on 17/08/10
I'd love to whizz around Greenwich Park on one of these.
Whilst I can understand why Boris Johnson's London cycling scheme hasn't been rolled out to the boroughs, I can understand why. but that doesn't stop some of you being really rather annoyed by it. London Assembly member Len Duvall said "There is no reason why the positive outcomes of a cycle hire scheme could not be of benefit to the people of Greenwich and Lewisham." And that's entirely true. But if the scheme is successful in...
  • Greenwich Pedestrianisation Meeting

By MissSiany at 13:01 on 07/07/10
Do you want to see Greenwich pedestrianised? Have your say!
As Jane mentioned last week, plans to pedestrianise part of Greenwich Town Centre were being discussed at the end of last year. I can't even begin to  imagine where they'd start with this plan, but I can see it having benefits if it's done well (but where does all the traffic go?) Luckily, Transition Westcombe have arranged a meeting (note, not tha council themselves) so there can be a bit more of a chat about what this might mean...
