Thursday 24 January, 8pm – 10pm
The Backman Trio was formed in Blackheath in April 2009 by Frida Backman (violin), Ruth Beedham (Conservatoire cello tutor) and Marcus Andrews (Conservatoire piano tutor). Their first season began with a summer tour of Finland and continued with concerts across London and England. Generous financial support from the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland has enabled the trio to return to Finland in 2011 and 2012, performing and recording works by Finnish and British composers widely across both countries.
Leto Ensemble is a distinguished and versatile group incorporating flute (Conservatoire tutor Klio Blonz), clarinet (Shelley Levy) and piano (Pavel Timofejevsky) in various instrumental combinations. Its aim is to explore and promote a wide range of repertoire including old and contemporary works.
Programme:
Beethoven: Trio for piano and strings No. 5 in D major, Op. 70 no 1 "Ghost"
