Students are benefiting from a partnership between the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC) and the University of Greenwich. The association, which has more than 300 member conference centres across the world, has chosen Greenwich as its higher education partner in Europe.
Rob Davidson, Senior Lecturer in Events Management at the university's Business School, says: "Six of our MA Events Management students attended the IACC Europe Conference near Twickenham. The students gained enormously from the presentations and the networking opportunities during the event, titled 'Conferences for Generation Y'.
Rob Davidson gave a keynote presentation on his specialist research topic, which looked at those born after 1980 who have increased technological demands when they attend conferences or stay at hotels.
Future joint projects between the association and Greenwich will include research into the education and training needs of conference centre managers. The cooperation with Greenwich is, in part, based on the association's recognition of an innovative new course in Event Venue Management, developed by Rob Davidson and fellow university lecturer Nick Wilde.
