OK so it's only the start of November, but already Greenwich shops and market are filled with Christmas wares.

So here's a date for your diary - Wednesday, November 28, 4-7pm.

The Greenwich Christmas festivities will begin with the local school children's lantern procession and the switching on of the fantastic Christmas lights.

The procession will start at 4pm in front of the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at the Old Royal Naval College and wind its way to the Market.

The big countdown at 4.30pm led by Sarah Jane Honeywell from CBeeBies and characters from this year's Greenwich Theatre panto Robin Hood.

All can join in singing Christmas Carols, meet Father Christmas in his Greenwich Grotto and shop late through to 7pm.

The event is perfect for the whole family and is free!
